Meet the Directors of Future Minority Doctor:

Marina Capella, MD, MEd, MBA

I’m a pediatrician, a medical educator, and a first-generation college student. Growing up in a working-class immigrant family, I know how confusing and stressful navigating healthcare and medical education can be. I’ve worked on medical school admissions committees and mentored hundreds of students, so I love helping young people find their path in medicine. When I’m not in the clinic or teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and supporting others in reaching their goals.

Zulma Curet, MD

I’m a pediatrician, a mom, and a proud first-generation college and medical student. I grew up in San Diego, and I’m happy to be back caring for kids and families in my home community. I work at community health centers across North County, helping children grow up healthy and happy. Outside of the clinic, I love spending time with my husband and two kids, running, traveling, and staying involved in the community.

Angie

As a first-generation student with no connections in medicine, I was uncertain about how to present my application in a competitive manner. The FMD program not only provided guidance and support throughout the whole application process, but also encouraged me and helped me to share my story and prepare my

application to the best of my abilities.

Daniel
